Current Bill Summary

SB 789 - This act authorizes jail district commissioners to place a sales tax on retail sales in the district of 1/8th, 1/4th, 3/8ths, or 1/2 of one percent on the ballot which will provide funding for courts and regional jail facilities. The tax requires approval of a majority of voters in the district.

Current law allows counties to form regional jail districts by action of the county commissioners of member counties.
