Senator Parson Commends Green Ridge Elementary for Winning Nearly $10,000 in Technology Grants


JEFFERSON CITY — Senator Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, is pleased to announce that Green Ridge Elementary School, located in Pettis County, has been awarded nearly $10,000 from the CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation’s Teachers and Technology grant program. The program awards grants in CenturyLink’s service areas on behalf of teachers who have developed a specific plan to innovatively implement technology in the classroom.

 

“Giving our kids the technology to learn is one of the basic building blocks of education,” said Sen. Parson. “I am proud of the Green Ridge Elementary School and the school’s dedication to its students.

 

More than 1,000 grant applications were received from across the country.  In Missouri, more than 80 teachers applied, with 14 winning schools selected by a review committee comprised of community members and a CenturyLink Representative. 

 

Green Ridge Elementary received two grants. The school received $4,976.95 to purchase Moby Max tablets, which allow personalized instruction to improve language arts and mathematics skills. Teacher Rhonda Hilt submitted the project.

 

The school also received $5,000 for Kindle eReaders to improve reading comprehension, fluency and motivation to read in the second grade classroom. Teacher Cheryl Harding submitted this project.
