Senator Wayne Wallingford Releases Statement on Flooding in Southeast Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY —Jefferson City — State Sen. Wayne Wallingford, R-Cape Girardeau, has issued the following statement regarding the catastrophic flooding that has impacted families across Southeast Missouri:

“My thoughts and prayers are with those families who have lost loved ones to this flooding,” said Senator Wayne Wallingford.  “I am monitoring the situation and will be working with state emergency management officials responding to this crisis.  I urge everyone who is traveling to stay safe and avoid crossing any roads that are covered by water.”

KFVS has published a list of flooded roads on their website at www.kfvs12.com, and MODOT continuously updates road conditions throughout the state at www.modot.gov.

As in all emergency situations, those who need emergency assistance are urged to contact your local authorities.

For those impacted by flooding in Cape Girardeau County, the Red Cross has opened a shelter and can be reached at 573-335-9471 if you need assistance.

In Perry County, flooding questions and reports can be directed to the Perry County Emergency Operations Center at 573-547-4000.
