Senator Nasheed Commends SLMPD for Apprehending All Four Suspects in Tuesday's Shooting

JEFFERSON CITY — Following an early morning ambush on a police officer on Tuesday morning, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on Thursday announced that it had apprehended all four suspects. The attack rocked the Central West End neighborhood and triggered a mass mobilization to bring the suspects into custody.

In a brief statement on Thursday night, Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, said: “I commend the work of the police department in the swift investigation and apprehension of these suspects.”

Senator Nasheed — who has worked closely with community leaders, advocates and law enforcement to stem violent crime in St. Louis — is now calling on the Circuit Attorney’s Office to prosecute the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law.

“Violent criminals need to know that their illegal actions will not be tolerated in our city. I have no doubt that justice will be served in this case,” Sen. Nasheed said. “I encourage our police to pursue all violent criminals with the extraordinary professionalism they have displayed over the past few days.”
