Senator Munzlinger Sponsors Appointee to State Board

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, was the Senate sponsor of April S. Wilson of Kirksville, who was appointed by the governor to serve as a member of the Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board. The review board provides independent assessments on child abuse and neglect determinations in which the alleged perpetrator is affected by the decision of the Children’s Division.

“This review board ensures safety for the children of Missouri, as well as a thorough investigation into a case before determining the final decision,” Sen. Munzlinger said. “April is a successful and experienced prosecutor and attorney. Her work as a Guardian ad Litem not only fits the qualifications required of the position, but I believe will prove to make her a valuable member of the board.”

The Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board was created within the Missouri Department of Social Services. It includes nine appointed members, who serve three-year terms. The appointed members’ career requirements range from physicians and psychologist to law enforcement and university professors, all of which are chosen in order to provide experienced, educated and detailed reviews while ensuring safety for the children of Missouri.

Senator Munzlinger sponsored the appointment April 16 and the full Missouri Senate confirmed Wilson's appointment on April 17. Wilson’s term is scheduled to end April 7, 2016.
