Legislative Column for the Week of Oct. 20, 2014

Grants Available to Assist MO Farmers

The Missouri Department of Agriculture has announced that applications are now being accepted for grants through the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) to assist Missouri farmers. The grants would help farmers plan their financial strategies in order to process and market agricultural goods and innovations. The grants are funded by tax credits purchased through contributions made to MASBDA.

The growth of Missouri’s agricultural community is a key component in the purpose behind these grants. With better marketing skills and efficient processing of goods and services, everyone benefits.

The grants are capped at a maximum of $200,000. Applicants must put up a 10 percent match of the grant request to cover operating expenses, etc.

The deadline for submitting applications for the grants is set for 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
