Hunting Goes High-Tech

The latest wave of technology is now adding to the excitement of hunting.

Besides GPS tracking, which can lead hunters or hikers to a certain area, or help them find their way out, a new mobile phone app is proving to be quite a convenience for hunters and trappers.

The app from the Missouri Department of Conservation, called Mo Hunting, is free for IPhone and Android platforms.

The app allows hunters to register, as well as purchase hunting and fishing permits with your smartphone. In addition, one may telecheck a deer and buy a tag for it right on the spot.

Of course, hunting and fishing licenses should still be printed, as the law still requires a signature for these items, and other resources might be limited to the availability of a signal while in the field. Hunters should check with their phone providers to ensure proper coverage before entering a sparsely-populated area.

The new app will definitely make the outdoor experience more convenient, and may encourage more people to venture into the great outdoors.
