Governor Signs Legislation Allowing the Missouri Department of Economic Development to Open a Trade Office in Israel

JEFFERSON CITY — Legislation sponsored by Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, was signed into law today (7-2) by the governor. Senate Bill 812 requires the Missouri Department of Economic Development to open an office in Israel, subject to appropriation.

“Senate Bill 812 accomplishes two very important objects,” said Sen. Parson. “Not only does it bring economic benefit to Missouri products in front of international customers, but it also provides a tangible means by which Missouri is able to demonstrate strong support for the nation of Israel.”

There are already more than 70 Missouri companies doing business with Israel, including Boeing, Monsanto, Eagle Picher, and Sigma Aldrich. In 2012 Missouri companies exported over $100 million in goods to Israel.

The legislation will go into effect on Aug. 28, 2014. For more information on Sen. Parson’s sponsored legislation, visit his official Missouri Senate website at www.senate.mo.gov/parson.
