Statement: Senator Nasheed Requests Audit of St. Louis Recorder of Deeds Office

JEFFERSON CITY — Today (7-14), Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, released a statement and a letter to the Missouri State Auditor’s office, asking for an audit of the St. Louis Recorder of Deeds office in light of recent admissions.

“As the elected senator for much of the City of St. Louis, I am responsible for answering my constituents’ questions. As the previous Recorder of Deeds was replaced this very day, the citizens of the 5th Senatorial District deserve answers to any questions regarding the efficacy of this office.

As the last audit of the St. Louis Recorder of Deeds office was performed in 2010 under the last State Auditor, I call upon the State Auditor’s office to investigate and ensure the proper use and efficiency of the Recorder’s office, now and for the future.”

Senator Nasheed can be reached by contacting her Capitol office at (573) 751-4415.
