Senator Munzlinger Announces Career and Technical Education Month

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, reminds everyone February is Career and Technical Education Month, which is set aside to highlight the benefits of technical schools throughout the country.

“We have some great technical institutions in Missouri, and I would like to take this time to thank them for the work they do for our students,” Sen. Munzlinger said. “These organizations are crucial to helping students — both secondary and post-secondary, as well as displaced workers — to train for new or different skills as technology changes.”

Senator Munzlinger is also the sponsor of Senate Bill 17, a measure which would establish the Career and Technical Education Board to oversee and coordinate career and technical education. The proposal was heard by the Senate Financial and Governmental Organizations and Elections Committee on Jan. 28, 2013.

“Senate Bill 17 would do a lot to further the goals of our career and technical community,” Sen. Munzlinger said. “We hear about the jobs of the future, but we need to be training for those jobs now. Establishing a board that concentrates on this would enable our state to hone in on the best and brightest students and better prepare for the future.”
