Senator Bob Dixon Issues Statement Regarding Governor's Recent Appointment of Department Directors

JEFFERSON CITY — Today (12-19), Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, released the following statement about the governor’s recent appointment of Sen. Ryan McKenna of Jefferson County as the new Director of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and Richard Fordyce of Bethany, Mo., to be the new Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture. The Labor Director position became vacant with the departure of former Director Lawrence G. Rebman in March; the Agriculture Director position when former Director Jon Hagler departed.

“I greatly appreciate the governor’s swift and appropriate action to place permanent directors at the helm of these very important state departments. When the General Assembly convenes in January, the Senate will have the opportunity to consider thoroughly the qualifications of both nominees and fulfill its role in the confirmation process, as the constitution requires.

These prompt appointments demonstrate good faith, which should be recognized, and I thank him for his efforts. As additional high caliber nominees are submitted for advice and consent, I look forward to seeing every executive department headed by a Senate-confirmed director.”
