Senator Sifton Honored for Legislative Work in the Missouri Senate

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Scott Sifton, D-Affton, has received the “Chamber Champion” award from the St. Louis Regional Chamber during its first ever "Championing a Greater St. Louis" luncheon.

“I am very grateful not only to have been considered, but to have received this award,” Sen. Sifton said. “As a first year senator, I was very fortunate to be able to play a part in crafting a solution for Missouri’s insolvent Second Injury Fund. It took a lot of effort from all parties at the table, but in the end we made a difference for thousands of injured workers in our state and the businesses that employ them.”

"Chamber Champion" awards were presented to five Missouri lawmakers who played critical roles in the passage of key Chamber priorities last session. Senator Sifton received an award for his leadership in brokering a bipartisan compromise on the workers’ compensation reform bill (Senate Bill 1).

“Scott’s earnestness and attention to detail were put to good use on this complex and controversial issue,” said Chamber Board Member and Policy Council Chair Tom Campbell. “Thanks to his efforts, the comprehensive bill was able to pass the Senate early in session, which was critical to its final passage. We applaud Sen. Sifton’s work across the aisle on this issue, and I am honored to present him with this ‘Chamber Champion’ award.”
