Senator Sifton Honored for Legislative Woek in the Missouri Senate

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Scott Sifton, D-Affton, today (9-19) received the “Outstanding Legislative Service Award” during The Missouri Bar Association’s 2013 Missouri Bar/Missouri Judicial Conference annual meeting.

“I am very thankful to have not only been considered, but to have received this award,” Sen. Sifton said. “The work we do in the Missouri Legislature has to be done diligently, and the goal is to serve the people of Missouri. I take this job very seriously and always do everything I can to serve the people of the 1st Senatorial District.”

The “Outstanding Legislative Service Award” is one of several given during the three-day annual meeting hosted by The Missouri Bar. The event also includes an address by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri. Senator Sifton’s award presentation was a part of the Judicial Conference Legislative Breakfast, which highlights the work of lawmakers in Missouri and updates attendees on legislative action relating to lawyers, judges and the legal process in Missouri.

“This is my third year in state government, and my first in the Missouri Senate,” Sen. Sifton said. “It is humbling to receive such an award after only a few years in public service, and I want to thank everybody involved with this great event. We have a giant task ahead in the coming years, and our focus in the Missouri General Assembly will soon turn to consideration of a measure that could rewrite Missouri’s criminal code for the first time in more than 30 years. Rest assured, we will give careful thought and debate to this monumental goal when we return to Jefferson City in January.”
