Senator Scott Sifton Sponsors Gubernatorial Appointee

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Scott Sifton, D-Affton, is sponsoring the appointment of Kathleen Tofall of St. Louis to the Missouri Sentencing and Corrections Oversight Commission.

“I am proud to see Ms. Tofall applied to the panel,” Sen. Sifton said. “In her current role as Executive Director of Victim Services for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office, Kathleen works with people affected by our state’s corrections system every day. Her knowledge and ability will serve the commission well, and I look forward to her nomination receiving full Missouri Senate approval.”

The Missouri Sentencing and Corrections Oversight Commission was formed last year by legislation and consists of 13 members. The duties of the commission include evaluating recidivism reductions, cost savings and other effects resulting from the implementation; determining ways to reinvest any cost savings; and examining the issue of restitution for crime victims. The panel will issue a report to the Missouri General Assembly by Dec. 31, 2013.

Tofall’s term on the commission, once approved by the Missouri Senate, would last for two years.
