ASSUMPTION



Officials from the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Missouri Lottery Commission, Missouri Senate, City of St. Louis, City of Kansas City, City of Springfield, County of St. Louis, County of St. Charles, and County of Jackson did not respond to our fiscal impact request.



Officials from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Missouri House of Representatives, State Auditor's Office, Secretary of State's Office, State Treasurer's Office, Office of Prosecution Services, Office of the State Courts Administrator, Missouri Tax Commission, Missouri Gaming Commission, Office of Administration - Division of Budget and Planning, Departments of Corrections, Higher Education, Insurance, Labor and Industrial Relations, Conservation, Economic Development, Agriculture, Revenue, Public Safety, Transportation, Social Services, Natural Resources, and Greene County assume the proposed legislation would have no fiscal impact on their agencies.



Officials from the Department of Mental Health (DMH) state they do not use state funds to pay for televised advertisements or commercials by elected or appointed officials. As a result, DMH assumes the proposal would cause no change in current practice or procedure.



Officials from the Department of Health and Senior Services (DOH) assume the proposed legislation would not be expected to significantly impact its operations. DOH officials note if the proposal were to substantially impact its programs, they would request funding through the legislative process.

DESCRIPTION



This proposal prohibits elected and appointed officials from appearing in televised commercials or advertisements paid for by state money.



This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
