FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business
This proposal could have a fiscal impact on small business due to the possible increase in available practicing physical therapists.
DESCRIPTION
This proposed legislation revises the licensure procedures for physical therapist applicants who are licensed in another state. The proposal removes the requirement that the laws of the state in which the applicant is already licensed must be substantially equal to or greater than the licensure laws of Missouri. The proposed legislation states that a license shall be issued to any physical therapist who is licensed in one or more states of the United States or the District of Columbia, has passed the National Physical Therapy Examination, and has had no violations, suspensions or revocations of a license to practice physical therapy.
The proposed legislation eliminates the current provision that a license shall not be issued to any applicant who has failed three or more times any physical therapist licensing examination.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
