ASSUMPTION



Officials from the Department of Public Safety - Missouri Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Office of Prosecution Services, Office of the State Public Defender, Office of the Attorney General, Department of Mental Health and the Office of the State Courts Administrator each assume this proposal would not fiscally impact their respective agencies.



Officials from the Department of Corrections (DOC), and the Boone County Sheriff's Office did not respond to our request for fiscal impact. However, in response to similar legislation from last year, DOC officials and Boone County Sheriff officials each assumed this proposal would not fiscally impact their respective agencies.

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business



No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.





DESCRIPTION



This proposal clarifies that any offender to whom the registration requirements apply (Megan's Law), must register with law enforcement by September 10, 2002, or within 10 days of being released from custody or becoming a resident of any county.



This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
