ASSUMPTION
Officials of the Office of Secretary of State stated that it is their duty to assist state agencies with the efficient and economical management of their records regardless of media or format. The addition of the Chief Information Officer will add depth of expertise to the State Records Commission. Officials stated there would be no fiscal impact.
Oversight assumes no local fiscal impact.

No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.
DESCRIPTION
This act adds the Chief Information Officer as a member of the State Records Commission. The Chief Information Officer is the head of the Office of Information Technology.
This commission has the duty to determine what records no longer have any administrative, legal, research or historical value and should be disposed of.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
