ASSUMPTION



Officials of the Department of Natural Resources assumes this proposal would have no fiscal impact upon their department.



Jefferson County Commissioners stated that they currently have a department in place to enforce abatement, therefore, there would be no fiscal impact.



Oversight assumes this proposal is enabling legislation which would provide an additional avenue for Jefferson County to recover nuisance abatement costs. Oversight will show no fiscal impact to Jefferson County, based on the County Commission's response.

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business



No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.



DESCRIPTION



This act authorizes Jefferson County to enact ordinances to provide for the abatement of debris on any lot or land. Jefferson County may enact an ordinance, which provides that if the owner does not remove the nuisance within seven days of receiving notice of the nuisance. The building commissioner or designated office may have the condition removed and the cost of

such removal may be included in a special tax bill or added to the annual real estate bill for the property.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
