ASSUMPTION
Officials from the Office of State Courts Administrator, State Public Defender, Office of Prosecution Services, Missouri Highway Patrol, and Department of Economic Development - Divisions of Finance and Credit Unions assume the proposed legislation would have no fiscal impact on their agencies.
In a response to a similar proposal from the 2000 legislative session, officials from the Office of the Attorney General assumed the proposal would have no fiscal impact on their agency.

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business
Small businesses which experience credit card fraud could be fiscally impacted by this proposal, as it would establish changes in venue for credit card fraud cases.
DESCRIPTION
The proposed legislation would establish venue in cases of criminal credit card fraud. Cases could be prosecuted in the county or counties where any element of the offense took place, in the county where the defendant or victim resides, or in the county where the property was located.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
