Since opportunities for settlement and trade along the Missouri River resulted from the Lewis and Clark Expedition and due to the upcoming bicentennial with towns along the expedition route planning festivals and commemorations, the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE) is requested to develop a model curriculum for public school instruction concerning the Lewis and Clark Expedition which includes age-appropriate content for elementary and secondary grade levels and all school districts are requested to include age-appropriate curriculum and instruction regarding the Lewis and Clark Expedition in regular courses of instruction beginning with the 2002-2003 school year.
This resolution is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
