FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials from the Department of Economic Development (DED) - Division of Professional Registration (DPR) assume the proposed legislation would result in a decrease to the Board of Registration for the Healing Arts Fund from discontinuance of the collection of licensure fees for physical therapist assistants. Based on 1,268 individuals currently licensed as physical therapist assistants and an annual $10 fee, the proposal could result in an annual revenue decrease of $12,680 (1,268 x $10).

Oversight assumes this could result in a reduction in workload, but would not be significant.

DESCRIPTION

This act distinguishes between "licensure" and "practice" for physical therapist assistants. The act would remove the requirement that a person receive a license in order to practice as a physical therapist assistant.

This proposal would affect Total State Revenues.
