FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials of the Secretary of State assume this proposal would have no fiscal impact to their agencies.

Officials from the Department of Revenue (DOR) have no statistics available on how many individuals in Missouri would apply for the special POW/MIA license plates. For purposes of the fiscal note, assuming 100 applications, the cost to DOR would be approximately $670. This would have a minimal impact on the DOR and could be implemented with existing resources. However, if additional applications were received the DOR would require additional associated costs for the increased applications.

The revenue generated from the additional $15 fee would also have minimal impact based on the number of applications anticipated. If the number of applications increased, revenue would be affected accordingly.

Officials from the Department of Transportation concur with the Department of Revenue's response to this proposal.

DESCRIPTION

This proposal allows individuals to receive a POW/MIA specialized license plate to honor those who were prisoners of war or are now listed as missing in action. The specialized license plate will cost $15 in addition to regular registration fees.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
