FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials from the Office of the Attorney General, the Department of Corrections, and the Department of Social Services assume the proposed legislation would have no fiscal impact on their agencies.

Officials from the Office of Administration (COA) assume the proposal would not fiscally impact their agency. In response to an identical proposal in a previous legislative session, COA officials indicated that in times of rapid prison population growth, it could reduce the state and political subdivisions' options to contract for space and result in the over building of jail capacity.

The provisions of this proposal would not apply to the Division of Youth Services.

DESCRIPTION (continued)

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
