John Durban Schneider served the people of the 14th District (Part of St. Louis County). Born in St. Louis, he earned a B.S. in political science and J.D. from St. Louis University. He taught business law and economics from 1964-1968, and he practiced as a workers’ compensation attorney, running his own practice in downtown St. Louis. He was a trial attorney and partner in the firm of Boas, Schneider and Walsh. His awards included Outstanding Young Man of America in 1972, Judicial Conference Outstanding Legisators and NEA Ten Best Legislators from, 1982 - 1994. He was elected to the House in 1968 and the Senate in 1970. He was the majority floor leader from 1976-1980 and served through 2002. Senator Schneider served for 32 years, making him one of the longest-serving members in Senate history. (Democrat)
