Back at the Capitol for Veto Session Senators returned to the Capitol earlier this month for Missouri’s annual veto session. This year’s session was brief, with no action taken to override any of the governor’s vetoes of budget line items. There were no vetoed pieces of legislation to consider. Laws passed during session without emergency clauses or delayed effective dates took effect Aug. 28. Election Workers Needed The St. Louis County Board of Elections is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Election Judges and Student Election Judges for the Nov. 3 General Election. Poll workers play a pivotal role in making it possible for citizens to rightfully exercise their voting rights on Election Day. Election Judges are responsible for setting polling places, managing the voting process and securing ballots for collection at the Election Board headquarters. State law requires all polling places to be staffed by bi-partisan teams. The High School Student Election Judge Program offers an excellent opportunity for students to experience firsthand how elections are run, learn the importance of voting and understand the value of the democratic process. Serving as a Student Election Judge can enhance college applications, fulfill service requirements for a student organization, or build a better work resume.
