Veto Session

Hello from your favorite Senator Angela Mosley!

This week the Missouri Senate reconvened to vote on the vetoes the governor made this session, which were only line items within the state budget. Though the House of Representatives and the Senate leadership chose not to bring any of the governor’s appropriations vetoes to the body, it did give us a chance to come together as a Senate and say farewell to many of the retiring senators and also to recognize staff that have served with the Senate for many years.

With the conclusion of this Veto Session, all legislation from the 2027 legislative session has now been finalized. The next time we will meet as a Senate body will be at the start of the new General Assembly in January.

With the start of school as we head into fall, I want to share an important reminder for our community. Food on the Move is still operating free food distributions. On the second Wednesday of every month from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., you can pick up food from Bethany-Peace United Church, which is located at:

11952 Bellefontaine Road
 St. Louis, MO 63138

If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, please share this information with them and encourage them to get the help they need and deserve.

Also, starting October 1, 2026 there will be more intensive SNAP verification requirements. Self-attestations will no longer be accepted for:

            1. Shelter costs (rent, mortgage, utilities)

2. Dependent care or childcare expenses

3. Countable resources, such as money in a bank account

Applicants will now be required to provide proof of the aforementioned items with new applications & recertifications.

If you have any questions, please reach out to my office.
