Senator Sandy Crawford's Capitol Report for the Week of June 8, 2026
Monday, June 8, 2026

    June 8, 2026

Our regular legislative session ended on May 15. It was a busy and productive last session for me. A total of 13 bills that I handled or filed were passed. Three of them have already been signed into law by the governor. He has until July 14 to make a decision on the rest of them.  I will keep you updated.

It is hard to believe that this was my 16th and final session in the Missouri General Assembly. As I reflect on my time here, the things that matter the most are the people we have helped and the friendships formed along the way. I feel good about the legislation I have passed, and I have few regrets. It is, however, frustrating to see the way politics has changed. People are more demanding and less forgiving. They can be rude to both my staff and me. This shift has been hard to deal with. As I hand the reins of the 28th Senatorial District over to someone else at the beginning of next year, I encourage you to be respectful to that person. If you disagree with them, be courteous. Don’t be disrespectful to their staff. Most elected officials are here for the right reason. We are public servants. We work hard. We spend time away from our home and our family to represent our district. We try to do our best, but we don’t all agree on every issue. Even with the negatives, I would still do it again. It has been worth it. It has been a great honor to represent the people in my district. Thank you for the opportunity to do that for the past 16 years.
