Senator Steven Roberts Passes Legislation to Strengthen Historic Preservation and Economic Development

JEFFERSON CITY -- Senator Steven Roberts, D-St. Louis, praised the passage of House Bill 3080, legislation that modernizes and strengthens Missouri’s historic preservation tax credit program, calling it a major win for St. Louis neighborhoods, downtown revitalization efforts, affordable housing development and economic growth throughout the state.

House Bill 3080 builds on Missouri’s long-standing commitment to preserving historic buildings while encouraging private investment in communities that have too often been left behind. The legislation is expected to support redevelopment projects that create jobs, expand housing opportunities and breathe new life into commercial corridors across Missouri.

“Historic preservation is economic development,” Sen. Roberts said. “In St. Louis, we have seen firsthand how restoring historic buildings can transform neighborhoods, attract new businesses, create more housing and preserve the character that makes our communities special. This legislation ensures Missouri remains competitive in attracting investment while protecting the places that tell our story.”
