Senator Tony Luetkemeyer Sponsors Meierhoffer’s  Board Appointment

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, congratulates Scott Meierhoffer of St. Joseph on his confirmation as a member of the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. The CEO of a fifth-generation family-owned funeral services provider, Meierhoffer has been appointed by the governor to serve a five-year term.

Senator Tony Luetkemeyer, right, sponsored St. Joseph funeral director Scott Meierhoffer as he appeared before the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee prior to his confirmation as a member of the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.

“The careful oversight of various professions in Missouri depends on citizens who step forward to volunteer their time and lend their expertise to state boards and commissions,” Sen. Luetkemeyer said. “I’m grateful for Scott’s willingness to serve the citizens of Missouri and his profession.”

The State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors was established by the Missouri General Assembly in 1895 to oversee the state’s funeral service providers. Five of the six members on the board must be licensed to practice embalming or funeral directing.

A graduate of Westminster Colleges, Meierhoffer is CEO of Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory in St. Joseph, which has served residents of northwest Missouri for 125 years.
