Senator Brown Takes the Oath of Office to Serve Missouri’s 26th Senatorial District

On Jan. 4, I experienced one of the most honorable, humbling moments of my life when I raised my right hand and took the oath of office to serve as your state senator. I’m looking forward to familiarizing myself with the rules and procedures of the Senate and hopefully, start presenting my bills to committees during hearings in the coming weeks.

Senator Brown is sworn into office on Jan. 4.

I’m excited to share I have been appointed vice chair of the Senate Government Accountability Committee. I will also serve on the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment; Gubernatorial Appointments; and the Insurance and Banking committees.

As we gear up for the 2023 legislative session, I want to bring a few items to your attention. Last year, new legislative maps were drawn to reflect population shifts from the 2020 census, so there are a few substantial changes to the 26th Senatorial District to note. Beginning this year, the district encompasses Franklin, Gasconade, Osage and Warren counties, plus the city of Eureka in west St. Louis County. Although I will be kept busy at the State Capitol through May, I hope to travel around the district in my off time and learn more about your concerns and ideas. The better I understand your needs, the better I can represent you.

While I enjoyed speaking with many of you on my journey to the Missouri Senate, please allow me to introduce myself to those I’ve not met. I am a husband, dad to three children, owner of Satchmo’s Bar and Grill, former mixed martial artist and resident of Washington. One of the top reasons I ran for office was to ensure small businesses have the freedom and resources they need to succeed, without governmental interference.

Senator Brown and his family attend the 2023 legislative ball at the State Capitol.

So far, I have filed 10 bills and a Senate Joint Resolution. Among these bills, my top priorities include protecting women’s sports for female athletes, banning critical race theory in our schools and shielding small businesses from government overreach. You can see a full list of my legislation here.

I’ll close by saying “thank you” to the gracious residents of the 26th Senatorial District for entrusting me to be your voice in Jefferson City. You have my word that I will do everything in my power to protect your Second Amendment rights, support law enforcement and first responders and defend the rights of small businesses and families.

It is an honor serving those who call the 26th Senatorial District home. If you need assistance with navigating state government or the legislative process, please reach out by calling 573-751-3678 or emailing Ben.Brown@senate.mo.gov
