The State of the State
Hello from your favorite Senator Angela Mosley!
The governor addressed the General Assembly this week during a joint session between the Missouri Senate and House of Representatives to hear the State of the State. During his speech, the governor shared his plans for Missouri including cutting income tax through the expansion of sales tax. I am completely opposed to this plan. Everything costs too much right now: groceries, rent, utilities, clothing. That is why I will not support a plan that raises or expands sales tax. This proposal makes life more expensive while only offering tax relief to those who don’t need it. I am a hard no on higher taxes.
Meanwhile in our community, the Walgreens Chamber Road pharmacy at 2202 Chambers Rd in St. Louis has closed as of Jan. 14 due to staffing shortages and safety concerns. I have been notified that all prescriptions have been moved to 9825 Halls Ferry Road, which is about 1.8 miles away from the closing location. Those affected can opt-in for prescription delivery services for 90 days on Walgreen’s website or by calling them. It is so damaging when needed services, like pharmacies, close in our communities so I hope this information can help make the transition easier.
We must continue to work, fight and survive together as a community. That is when we are the strongest. I will do my part and continue to represent you here in the Capitol, standing for your needs and values.
