Senators Roberts and May to Host St. Louis Police Commissioner Town Hall

ST. LOUIS — State Sen. Steven Roberts, D-St. Louis, and state Sen. Karla May, D-St. Louis, will host a public town hall on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s return to state control. The town hall will also feature all five appointees to the new commission, the mayor of St. Louis and advisor to the board.

The governor prioritized the return to state control of the St. Louis police force and the legislation to make it law was passed by the General Assembly earlier this year. As part of the legislation – advanced with the involvement of St. Louis senators – any commissioner appointed by the governor must receive the approval of the senators who represent the City of St. Louis.

Students, members of the media and the public are encouraged to attend. Attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions of the appointed commissioners.
