Love Thy Neighbor Peace Rally: Saying No to Gun Violence

This past weekend, I joined forces with Rep. Chanel Mosley, other elected officials and Mommas Against Homicide for the Love Thy Neighbor Peace Rally — a heartfelt event dedicated to promoting peace, unity and a clear message: Say No to Gun Violence.

The rally brought together families, community leaders and advocates who share a common goal — ending the senseless gun violence that continues to devastate too many lives across our state. It was a powerful moment of solidarity and healing, reminding us that love and compassion must guide our actions if we are to build safer communities.

One of the most moving moments came from 10-year-old Prince Jones, who spoke bravely about losing his father to gun violence. Prince’s words captured the spirit of the rally when he said, “Hurting other people…that’s not good. You never know what that person could be in life.”

Prince’s dreams are as bright as his courage. He hopes to become a football player, attend a Kansas City Chiefs game and one day serve as Governor of Missouri. His message is one we all should carry: every life has purpose, and every child deserves a future free from violence.
