Senator Denny Hoskins Files Bill to Curb Illegal Immigration

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, filed Senate bill 1520 , legislation aimed at curbing illegal immigration in Missouri, on Feb. 29, 2024.

The proposed law would prohibit non-U.S. citizens from entering the state of Missouri. Offenders would be liable for a fine of $10,000 and would be deported. Repeat offences would be classified as a class E felony, and perpetrators would be imprisoned for one to seven years, fined another $10,000 and finally deported.

“With the mass amount of illegal immigrants coming from the south we need to make sure we have policies in place to handle the issue here in Missouri,” Sen. Hoskins said. “I believe this is one of the first steps we can take to help deal with the border crisis.”

Sen. Hoskins says he believes the crisis at the border is one of the biggest problems in the country and expects to see his legislation progress quickly through the legislative process.
