Senator Justin Brown Encourages Local Involvement in 2024 Bridge Project

JEFFERSON CITY – State Sen. Justin Brown, R-Rolla, is encouraging residents in Laclede County to participate in the public input phase of a transportation project being planned by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).

According to MoDOT, the Laclede County Route B bridge over the Osage Fork of the Gasconade River is scheduled to have its driving surface replaced in 2024. This construction project will require the closure of the bridge for approximately 12 weeks. Local residents will have to use the signed detour or find other routes around the closure. More details, construction information and detour maps can be found on the MoDOT project website.

In preparation for the construction of the new bridge deck and lengthy road closure, MoDOT is asking those with questions or feedback concerning the project to share them with the project team. Those thoughts can be shared via a webform on the project website, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov or mailed to MoDOT, Re: Laclede County Route B Bridge over Osage Fork Project, 1511 Missouri Blvd., Jefferson City, MO 65109.

“This bridge is nearly 70 years old and sees significant local traffic every day,” said Sen. Brown. “I’m glad to see an investment being made into our local infrastructure in order to make sure the bridge stays usable for decades to come. I encourage everyone who uses this bridge regularly to stay informed on this project and involved by sharing their thoughts or concerns with MoDOT ahead of construction next year.”

The public input period is open until November 15.

MoDOT says the project is anticipated to cost approximately $1.4 million. Construction is expected to be complete by December 2024.
