DESCRIPTION
Current law establishes a Joint Committee on Education comprised of five members from each chamber that meets every four years. This proposal allows the committee to meet in any year that the president pro tem and the speaker appoint members to serve on the committee. The proposal alters the composition of the committee from five members per chamber to seven members per chamber and adds the study of education funding to the committee's charge. In the event of three consecutive absences on the part of any member, that member may be removed from the committee.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
