ASSUMPTION
Officials from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) assume this proposal would result in necessary changes to their data collection system; however, DESE does not expect these costs to exceed $100,000. Oversight assumes these one-time costs can be absorbed within existing resources or requested through the budget process.
Officials from the Saint Louis Public Schools indicated this proposal would have no fiscal impact on their district.
The following school districts did not respond to our request for fiscal note: University City, Ferguson-Florissant R-II, Kansas City Missouri, and Nixa.

DESCRIPTION
This proposal asserts that, should a student be expelled for bringing a weapon to school, violent behavior, or for an act of school violence, that student shall not, for the purposes of the accreditation process of the Missouri school improvement plan, be considered a drop-out or be included in the calculation of that district's educational persistence ratio.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
