FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials of the Department of Natural Resources assume no fiscal impact to their agency.

In a similar proposal officials of the Department of Public Safety assume no fiscal impact to their agency.

Jackson and Clay County officials did not respond. Oversight assumes that giving additional police powers to Jackson and Clay County Park Rangers would have no local fiscal impact.

$0 $0 $0

FISCAL IMPACT - Local Government FY 2005

(10 Mo.)

$0 $0 $0

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business

No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.

DESCRIPTION

This act gives Clay and Jackson County park rangers the same powers given to other peace officers of the state. The rangers can enforce any state law or local regulation within the boundaries of a park. The act also requires park rangers to be under the supervision of the county commission and not under the supervision of the county sheriff.

This act is similar to HB 2117 (2000).

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
