ASSUMPTION
Officials with the Department of Revenue, Department of Economic Development and Department of Public Safety-Missouri Highway Patrol assume this proposal would have no fiscal impact on their agencies.
Officials with the Office of State Courts Administrator (CTS) assume that depending on the degree of enforcement, there could be an increase in the number of cases filed for trucks traveling over the proposed speed limit. CTS do not anticipate this increase to significantly impact their budget however, there could be an increase in the amount realized from fines.
Officials with Department of Transportation assume this proposal could lower the speed limit on trucks and prohibit trucks from driving in the left hand lane on certain highways. MoDOT could have to design, produce and install new signs for restricting trucks from the left lane. Current sign assemblies on every freeway or expressway could need to be modified. MoDOT could also need to conduct a safety study.
