HB 1867 - Current law authorizes certain cities and counties to impose a transient guest tax at a rate not to exceed 5%. This act authorizes the city of Joplin to increase such rate to 6% if approved by the voters. The revenue derived from the additional one percent rate authorized by the act shall be used by the city solely to provide moneys for the construction and maintenance of new capital projects to promote tourism in the city. This act is identical to a provision in SCS/HCS/HB 1790 (2026) and HCS/HB 2431 (2026). JOSH NORBERG
