SB 273 - This act permits the delivery sale of cigarettes to a consumer provided certain requirements are satisfied. More specifically, the act requires that prior to first delivery sale to the consumer, the seller obtain from the consumer reliable written certification signed by the consumer stating the consumer is not a minor and is aware of the illegality of the purchase of cigarettes by a minor. The act further requires the person selling cigarettes by delivery to provide notice: of the illegality of purchases of cigarettes by minors; of the adverse effects of tobacco use; of the fact that the sale of cigarettes is subject to tax; and how the tax shall be paid. The act sets out requirements for verification upon delivery of the age of the recipient. This act contains penalty provisions for violation of the sections contained within this act. JASON ZAMKUS
