SB 359 - Currently, a local government may withdraw from a regional planning commission at the end of any fiscal year by a two-thirds vote of the local government's governing body. Under this act, the governing body shall also withdraw upon voter approval. If the governing body receives a petition, signed by 15% of the registered voters in the last gubernatorial election, calling for withdrawal, the governing body shall submit the proposal to the voters. If a majority of the votes are in favor of withdrawal, the governing body shall withdraw the local government from the regional planning commission at the end of the fiscal year. SUSAN HENDERSON MOORE
