CURRENT BILL SUMMARY
SB 1072 - This act specifies that whether an ailment is considered an "emergency medical condition" depends on the person having sufficiently severe symptoms, regardless of what final diagnosis is given.
The act also specifies that health care professionals providing health care services in a hospital within a patient's network shall not bill the patient or the patient's carrier for more than the amount that would be paid to a provider within the patient's network for comparable health care services.
This act contains provisions identical to SB 982 (2018).
This act is similar to provisions in SS/SB 982 (2018), HCS/SB 575 (2018), SCS/SB 928 (2018), HCS/HB 2225 (2018), and to HB 2463 (2018).
