CURRENT BILL SUMMARY
SB 887 - Under current law, a child between the ages of 12 and 18 years may be tried in a court of general jurisdiction and prosecuted under general law.
This act raises the age of certification of a child for trial as an adult to the age of 14.
This act is identical to SB 423 (2023), SB 1205 (2022), HB 1745 (2022), and SB 446 (2021) and substantially similar to the truly agreed to and finally passed SS/SCS/SBs 189, et al (2023).
