SB 1071 - This act requires each school district to ensure that the elementary and secondary schools provide instruction in cursive writing so that students can create readable documents through legible cursive handwriting by the end of the fifth grade, and pass with proficiency a teacher-constructed test demonstrating student competency in both reading and writing in cursive. This act is identical to HB 1262 (2020) and a provision in HCS/SS/SCS/SB 528 (2020). JOSIE BUTLER
