CURRENT BILL SUMMARY
SB 804 - This act provides that statements concerning the execution of inmates are included in the definition of rules for purposes of statutory requirements for the promulgation of administrative rules.
In addition, this act prohibits the Department of Corrections from purchasing lethal gas or chemicals for executions with paper money or coins.
Under this act, any person who operates, owns, is an agent of, or is employed by a supplier of equipment or chemicals used in executions may not be a member of an execution team.
The Department of Corrections is granted rulemaking authority over the administering of the death penalty.
This act contains a provision that is identical to a provision of SB 787 (2014).
