SCS/SB 762 - This act defines automobile event data recorder and limits the release of data collected by manufacturer installed event data recorders to five circumstances: 1) by or with the approval of the owner; 2) in response to a valid search warrant, court order, or subpoena; 3) for anonymous data collection to improve motor vehicle safety, security, or traffic management; 4) for diagnosing, servicing, or repairing the motor vehicle; and 5) for facilitating emergency medical response in the event of a motor vehicle crash or collision. This act does not apply to commercial motor vehicles. This act is substantially similar to HB 1332 (2014). MICHELA BIRK
