SB 682 - Current law allows a court to impose a juvenile disposition and suspend the execution of an adult criminal sentence for juvenile offenders who have been prosecuted as adults and who have pled guilty or been convicted. This act gives the court the opportunity to suspend imposition of the adult criminal sentence. The Division of Youth Services may request a hearing to ask the court to impose the adult sentence upon the division's determination that the child is beyond the scope of its treatment programs. The court is required to hold a hearing on whether to impose the sentence when the offender turns 17 years of age and the division must request such a hearing before releasing an offender any time before he or she turns 21. This act is identical to SB 152 (2013) and is substantially similar to SB 556 (2012) and HB 66 (2011). MEGHAN LUECKE
