CURRENT BILL SUMMARY
SB 370 - This act regulates the use of automated traffic enforcement systems used to enforce speed limits. This act restricts the use of automated traffic enforcement systems used to enforce speed limits to school zones and construction zones. This act requires prior approval from the Highways and Transportation Commission for a local jurisdiction to use an automated traffic enforcement system on any road included as part of the state highway system. This act also prohibits the Director of Revenue from assessing points for a conviction for an infraction based solely upon evidence obtained from an automated traffic enforcement system and limits applicable fines to one hundred thirty-five dollars.
This act is similar to provisions contained in HCS/HB 1557 (2014).
